Both in the United States and worldwide, the leasing industry is providing a major source of capital allowing companies to acquire many types of products. Volume in the United States alone in 2003 was over $208 billion. Business invested over $688 million in equipment and software during 2003. In other words, leasing counted for 31% of all acquisitions of equipment and software in the year 2002.
The major types of equipment leased include aircraft, computer equipment and software, transportation equipment, office machines, medical equipment, construction equipment, and industrial and manufacturing equipment.
